Tofu … who knew?! Tofu … who knew?!
We are MEAT eaters in our household.  Our toddler, Portia, is happiest with a chicken drummette in hand to gnaw on and I am... Tofu … who knew?!

We are MEAT eaters in our household.  Our toddler, Portia, is happiest with a chicken drummette in hand to gnaw on and I am pretty sure my husband doesn’t consider a meal a true meal without some form of meat on his plate.

I was recently contacted by House Foods to try out a new product they have available called Shirataki Noodles.

Tofu noodles.  Meatless.  Hmmm.  😉

I decided to give them a try.  Personally, there are many nights that I dread the idea of eating meat.  Don’t get me wrong… I love a good steak, but, every so often, I crave something lighter.

I went and grabbed two packages of the Shirataki noodles the other day and scoured the www. for a recipe idea to ‘mask’ the tofu-ness of the meal I was about to make.  I was slightly concerned when my husband read off an interesting step to making the noodles: “Boil 2-3 minutes to reduce the authentic aroma”.  I’m not quite sure what the ‘authentic aroma’ of tofu is… but I was NOT about to find out.  (I opened the package with my nose plugged).

I found this delicious recipe and modified it to my family’s preferences and this is what we got.

I thought they were yummy and so did my husband!  I could definitely see myself making this creation again (as unappealing as I managed to make it look in this photo) for a vegetarian, gluten-free dinner option.

Do you “Tofu”?
