Over spring break, Portia had the great opportunity to take part in a 1 week bike camp with Pedalheads.
Pedalheads is a safe, fun and challenging learn-to-ride bike camp for kids 2-12.
Since Pedalheads started, in 1995, they have taught over 175,000 kids how to ride their bikes. And they had Portia off her training wheels after the FIRST DAY! I had no idea what to expect (and whether Portia would be into the camp or not) and it was just such a great week for her.
Portia has always been pretty nervous on her bike, and my husband and I have tried to get her to take off her training wheels, but she was having none of it. I was surprised to hear after her first morning that they would be taking off the training wheels the next day. Ok… let’s do this!
Pedalheads is a drop-off program, so I tried to arrive at the end of each day a little bit early to watch Portia in action. I was so impressed with her instructor who would RUN with the kids, holding onto their bikes for a good minute per go. She was working HARD to make Portia (and the others in her group) feel safe on her bike while giving her the chance to pedal her little heart out. It was so heartwarming to watch!
Using our own Pedalheads® teaching methods, we use small classes and exceptional instructors to get your kids off of training wheels and riding! Our comprehensive program opens up a world of opportunities for a lifetime of cycling.
I know Spring Break has just come to and end in Vancouver, but that means you’re all already wondering which camps you’ll be signing your wee ones up for in the summer. Luckily, registration is already OPEN for Pedalheads camps! Whether you’re looking to ditch the training wheels, like Portia did, or your (older) child wants to bike through some awesome terrain this summer, you’ll want to check out the variety of classes Pedalheads offers!
