The Coliseum MediSpa

A few weeks ago, I was invited to spend a morning indulging in some much needed “me time” at West Vancouver’s The Coliseum MediSpa.  Admittedly, something I am really bad at taking care of is my skin.  I have always envied women with fresh, blemish-free, glowing skin and, yet, I don’t spend the time and energy it takes to achieve the radiant glow I long for.  It’s just one of those things! So, I was extra excited on the morning of facial because I got to not only check out a local spa, but I also got to devote some time to my skin.  And, as Janice, my technician reminded me, skin is the largest organ of our body and it needs to be cared for like all our other organs!

If that’s not initiative enough to get in for a facial more regularly, receiving the same treatment as I did certainly is!

My session started out with a Visia Complexion Analysis which was so interesting!  I had pictures taken of the right-side, left-side and front of my face by a machine that helps to identify sun damage, wrinkles, and evenness of skin tone.  We reviewed the images to see which areas of my face needed what kind of loving to give me a smoother, brighter complexion.

Visia Skin Analysis identify your skin’s condition both topically & subsurface. The VISIA system’s multi-spectral imaging and analysis provides a clear, multi-dimensional portrait of the individual aspects of your complexion which contribute to your overall appearance.

Once Janice had a better understanding of my skin, she was able to create a custom facial for me that would help with the wrinkles on my forehead, the redness around my nose and the sun damage on my upper lip causing darkness (and here I was thinking I was growing a moustache- tee hee).

While I quite enjoyed the skin analysis portion of the treatment… what came next was blissful.  I got to lay on my back with Janice delicately cleansing and working her magic on my face for an entire hour.  As you busy mamas all know, these are rare moments.  And I basked in the my moment!  I even had my first ‘peel’, though not what I would think of when I hear about peels.  This one was an H2O peel for my sensitive skin and my skin felt so great afterwards! I really did get spoiled!

Janice was so informative and I probably asked way too many questions, because I was so intrigued by how much she could tell me about everything from products she was using on my skin to alternative treatments available to us mamas who are starting to feel like some treatments may be in order 😉

I came out of my appointment filled with information and sleepy from all the relaxation. I contemplated asking if I could stay on the cozy spa bed and nap, but decided I had better get back to reality.

From the knowledgeable and friendly staff to the feel of the spa to the treatments that are offered at The Coliseum MediSpa, I would absolutely recommend booking a visit in with them!  Enjoy the bliss and the feeling of your skin after your session :)

So down for some Botox, (this year is now permanently written in my forehead) some peptides, and a facial! Hopefully I can win this contest …its been the WORST YEAR EVER!

You name it…its happened… Flooded house… husband leaves, teenager leaves….car hit by an old guy… littlest child gets sick in almost every way… I get sick!

Life is not always kind… but stuff like this, pampering yourself, can make it all go away…for just a little while… oh so glorious! Fingers crossed!
