Last week, I had the immense pleasure of being in a room filled with women I adore and admire while supporting a lovely friend of mine at her art studio on Main St. Yes, it was as amazing as it sounds!
Jamie Smith, a local Vancouver artist, is doing something very unique with her studio, THRIVE. Instead of splitting the cost of the studio with another artist, to make it more feasible (because… VANCOUVER!!!), Jamie has set up a long table and dedicated space to hosting workshops. She is not only an extremely talented artist, but has a background in education, so this makes so much sense. It’s not everyday that an artist is able to impart her wisdom, but impart is what Jamie does.
I had the great fortune of being on that receiving end the other day, along with 7 other bloggers/influencers. Some of us mamas, some of us not-yet-mamas… we all gathered at THRIVE with the same purpose of creating a vision board in the form of a collage, under the tutelage of Jamie.
It was meant to be a night of conversation, fun, and art. And that it was. What I did not expect was that it would also be a night of reflection, soul-searching and sharing… in a profoundly emotional way. There were tears. For some of us, lots of them. It was deep and we didn’t intend for it to be, but we all embraced the exercise fully and the proof of our engagement was clear. It was beautiful!
I highly recommend taking part in one of Jamie’s vision board art nights (register now for the next one coming up on March 10th).
Make sure to check out the other workshops Jamie offers at THRIVE here!
Thank you again so much for hosting us, Jamie! Now to start focussing all my energy on the things I want most for this one precious life.
