The last few months have been… hard.  I’m not going to lie. I feel like there have been so many balls in the air... There’s no ‘right time’… you just have to #TakeTheLeap! (Fitbit giveaway!)

The last few months have been… hard.  I’m not going to lie. I feel like there have been so many balls in the air constantly threatening to drop to the ground all at once.  For 2 months, I was hit with illness after illness (after illness) and I think it sent me spiralling into a… not so great place.

At the end of November, I had bronchitis and then after a few weeks of that, had a sinus infection and after 2 months in total of being down-and-out SICK, my doctor said I had likely had walking pneumonia. Fast forward to mid-January and I was finally starting to feel semi-normal again, but I’m now dealing with a shoulder issue and both my kids seem to be catching every bug any kid at school has ever had.

So as not to go on any longer in the ‘woe is me’ tone, what is the reason I am setting the stage for what life has been like since the end of November???  I have not been to a yoga class, frequented the gym or done ANY form of exercise in 3 full MONTHS! 3 months!!

I am acutely aware of the direct correlation between exercise and my mental health.  The link is undeniable.  When I am working out, feeling great, and pushing myself physically, I am more positive, I am happier and I feel in control of my life.

Without question…  Exercise = Wellbeing.

So, my little rant at the start of the post about all the reasons why I was NOT getting my workouts in was pretty much just me owning up to the fact that I have let something very important in my life slide.

Well, no longer.  There is no ‘right time’ for many things in life.  You just have to START where you are!

This week, I decided to take the leap.  The ‘bound’ back into regular exercise and a happier Jessica.  I want to start feeling strong again. I can’t wait to treat myself to the daily clarity that is practicing wellness.  I include this goal in my long list of goals every year, but it’s time to make it stick!

Withings fitness tracker TELUS North Shore Mama

As part of #TeamTELUS, the blogger advocacy program (that I am so proud to be included in), I had the opportunity to choose a fitness tracker to help keep me motivated and inspire me to #TakeTheLeap. And take the leap is exactly what I did the other day.  After 3 months of zero exercise, I took the plunge.  And it felt OH SO GOOD!

Workout... CHECK!

Workout… CHECK!

At a time when most of us are thinking about fresh starts, healthier living and general self-improvement, TELUS has your back. Not only does TELUS offer one of the most comprehensive selections of fitness and health-oriented gear, they also have trained experts to help you understand how to get the most out of your fitness and health trackers.

I’m loving my new Withings Activité Pop.  I also love my FitBit, but it’s nice to have some variety! Just like my workouts, I like to ‘switch it up’ to keep things fresh. 😉

FUN FITNESS FACTS…

Fitness gear and wearables have the ability to motivate Canadians and help them stay on track with their health goals:

  • The majority (57 %) of consumers said the ability to self-monitor was a major factor in their purchase of a fitness wearable (Nielsen)
  • Fifty-two per cent of wearable owners primarily use their devices to stay motivated to exercise and stay healthy (MaRS)
  • Nearly three-quarters of current exercise app users are more active than those who stopped or never used their apps (Journal of Medical Research)

TELUS wants to help you to become healthier and happier in 2016… #TakeTheLeap!

Aside from the launch of their thinkFull app, helping you to manage your stress and enrich your life, TELUS wants to help you make your fitness goals a priority.

TELUS will be gifting one lucky North Shore Mama reader a FitBit Charge HR!!  SO exciting! The winner of this giveaway will get to choose between the black and the plum Fitbit Charge HR.

more and more necessary as we age,to stay younger and more engaged in every day activities. It’s not always easy but I feel way more vibrant and full of energy.
