My children love ‘bars’.  That’s what they call anything that’s rectangular and in a crinkly wrapper and they live for them.  All summer I carried ‘bars’ in my purse, beach bag and pockets because they are such an easy snack.

Now that school has started up again and Portia and Madeleine are both in new school settings, our go-to snack of ‘bars’ is BARRED! Both the girls have kids in their classrooms with allergies which means making lunches got a little trickier (What? No more PB+J sandwiches?) and our search for allergen-free foods has become the new normal.

A couple of weeks ago I connected with Sarah Clarke, a fellow North Shore Mama and President of FreeYumm foods.  FreeYumm are allergen-friendly goodies that are made right here on the North Shore in a dedicated bakery. (Too good to be true, right?  Well… it’s TRUE!)

Free of the 9 priority allergens and gluten, everything we make is school friendly and safe for 99% of people.

Sarah dropped some boxes off for us to try and you’d think the girls were in heaven at the mention of new BARS to try.  Their 3 week deprivation was evident in that moment 😛

"Mmmm I want THIS one, mommy!"

“Mmmm I want THIS one, mommy!”

I could hardly even take photos of the FreeYumm bars before Madeleine started claiming which ones she wanted to try.

You know you’re a blogger when… The girls chose their bars and asked me if I wanted a picture of them holding the bars. It was too funny! I snapped these shots right before they tore into their bars. No word of a lie, all I heard between chomps and crinkling packages was “Mmm” and “yummy” and “this is so good”.

I went away for two nights after we first opened the boxes and when I came home and asked my husband his thoughts on the bars from the girls’ perspectives, his response was “OMG.  They LOVE those bars. They keep asking for them!”.

The fact that these bars are totally safe to send to school or daycare combined with the fact that the girls adore these bars earns FreeYumm this mom’s seal of approval!

No more reading labels and being disappointed at warnings of allergen traces or possible contact with them. Our brownies, bars and cakes are made with specially selected ingredients that have themselves been produced to be free of priority allergens.

What are the 9 priority allergens?

Allergen-free FreeYumm FreeYumm is FREE of all of them!  And once you taste them for yourself…  It’s kind of a no-brainer! I’ve been sneaking them into my purse on days that I teach (yes, we teachers are nut-free too) to eat with my tea at recess break. They are so delicious and really the perfect snack!
