Smoothies are a huge deal at our house. Our entire family is ga-ga over frozen blended drinks. Not just in the summer either. All. Year. Round! They are a great way to sneak all sorts of veggies and fruits (and chia and flax, etc.) into any diet, especially the kids’.
I love those deep green, nutrient-packed smoothie, but sometimes… I just want my smoothie to have all the ‘good stuff’ while also tasting REALLY good. Like, ‘peanut buttery chocolatey’ kind of good.
So, the other day, I created this concoction. I’m calling it the “Healthier” Peanut Butter Chocolate + Banana Smoothie. It’s kind of my own rendition of the Chocolate Peanut Butter and Banana Milkshake on the Hershey’s Kitchens site. While the original version looks divine, I wanted to see if I could make a blended drink I would feel slightly less guilty about enjoying (especially since I had just come home from the gym!).
“Healthier” Peanut Butter Chocolate + Banana Smoothie
1 cup of plain greek yogurt
1 cup of almond milk
2 tbsp. of chia seeds
1 ripened banana
1 handfull of ice
1 tbsp. REESE Spreads
- Add all of the above listed ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
I was really happy with the results of my smoothie and felt good about my ‘healthier treat’ as well. This is something I could see myself sharing with my kids as a special treat!
