From the conversations I’ve been having with friends and fellow mamas so far this year, there is a theme that keeps emerging.  It seems that we are all feeling it’s time to start streamlining and simplifying our lives in order to give ourselves some more… TIME.

Time for our kids, time for our friends, and (at the top of the list) time for OURSELVES!!

I had a great conversation with friends the other night over dinner.  Any time one of us shared a goal or dream, one of my friends would ask, “what are you going to do to make that happen?”.  She asked us to quite simply put our plans into action by stating what needs to happen for our dreams to become a reality.  I’ve been thinking about that so much since we chatted.  Now, whenever I come up with “I’d really like to ______”, I’m trying to hold myself accountable by following up with, “that means I need to _______”.

One of the tasks on my to-do list that seems the most daunting to me is grocery shopping.  I am a terrible meal-planner, meaning I end up needing to make multiple trips to the grocery store every week.  When I break it all down, it takes up w.a.y too much of my time.  And time is what we are trying to reclaim in 2016, right?!  So, when I heard about Superstore’s new Click & Collect program, I was very excited to get going on one of my goals for this new year.

Superstore Click & Collect 1

There is something oddly exciting about grocery shopping in your pyjamas, kids asleep in bed and glass of wine in hand.  Admit it, that sounds so much better than loading the kids up into the car, telling them 100 times that we aren’t buying ‘that’ as you make your way through the aisles, and then loading your now-cranky kids PLUS your groceries into the car (usually all in the pouring rain, to boot!).  Am I right or am I right? 😉

You’re going to love Click & Collect, then.  Superstore goods at Superstore prices, all with the click of a button.

Click & Collect steps

You choose your 2 hour window of time…

…and you pull your car up to the very front of the parking lot.  The groceries get loaded into your car for you and you drive away.  Done and DONE!

Superstore Click & Collect

One of the features I LOVE about Click & Collect grocery shopping online is that, when you search the item you’re looking for, it will tell you which brands are on sale or whether there are sales on the specific item you’ve selected! You can choose to “get the deal” by clicking the button when you are ‘checking out’ if you missed it while you were shopping. So cool!

Overall, I found the entire experience to be very easy and so convenient.  If you live nearby a Superstore, I highly recommend giving this service a GO!

My goals for 2016 are; to phase out a lot of our packaged food and strive for a more organized pantry. Get moving, I started walking daily some days I walk really far and other days I opt for a few at home exercises. To see new places I haven’t been before, first flight of the new year is New York city in Febuary 😀 So excited about that one, it will be my first trip to see NY.
The past couple of years has been about decluttering our lives, donating a LOT to others or organizations that give directly to people. I created a better functioning home which included not buying my children a lot of toys but instead choosing wooden or sustainably sourced toys.
Shopping small, shopping local and giving back were my goals of 2015 which I will continue to do this year.

I made NO resolutions. I usually do each and every year, and get disappointed as they’re just so grand (I’m a dreamer). I planned on being the best me ever, and loving myself each and everyday. That’s all I can do.

One of my goals is to get on track with meal planning. I am such an impulse shopper, I’m spending a fortune on groceries and then throwing tons away. I figure with some planning I could easily cut our grocery budget by 40%.

To be gentler to myself – with work/home/school/church/friends/family commitments – like many women we feel pulled in 100 directions. Seems there is so many distractions and obligations to fulfill – that at the end of the day – being stressed and the frustration of not completing everything….suffice it to say – that just do what one can….enjoy the little moments …add laughter/spontaneity and less structure/demands and life will go down a lot easier. In essence, try to accept that Superwoman is only in the comics.
