I cannot believe that this is the last week of summer before schools start up again (maybe?), routines begin, and for me, my girls start daycare FULL TIME. It just does not seem possible that all the plans we had made for summer 2014, have come and gone and September is next week. Sigh.
While I am really excited about the up and coming changes for our family, I already feel slightly nostalgic looking back on all the fun the summer (and amazingly hot Vancouver weather) has brought us. I thought I would take the opportunity to do a little recap of our summer adventures to both keep as a memory for our family, but also to share with anyone who wants to see. It’s like one of those Christmas newsletters, but in August instead.
To kick the summer off, my parents installed a real-deal wood-burning pizza oven on their deck. It has been the focus of many family dinners and celebrations. Delicioso.
Portia finished her first year of preschool. Proudly.
We took a family summer holiday up to Harrison Hotsprings and had our first glamping experience at Springs RV Resort. Read all about it here!
We had lazy summer days in our backyard, playing in the sand and in the water. The girls really bonded on a different level over the summer. Madeleine is finally at an age where she knows how to play with others, and Portia loves having a built-in playdate.
We celebrated Sally’s birthday…
And my dad’s…
My cousin, Michi’s…
And my mom’s!!! Whew. Lots and lots of cake was had this summer!
We spent a week in the Okanagan living by the lake.
I spent some quality time with quality women!
Hubby surprised me with a weekend away in Osoyoos and in Nelson to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary!
I faced a fear and spoke publicly for the first time about North Shore Mama to a group of fellow bloggers at a YVR Bloggers event. (Evidence all over my face of the FEAR) 😛
And most recently, last week we attended the annual Diner en Blanc event. We chased ‘love’ and watched lanterns light up Vancouver’s night sky.
Oh… and… we drank champagne, of course
Oh boy… so many memories. So much laughter. So much family. So many friends. So much love.
Portia and I had some fun with some of our summer memories over on the Kinder Canada Facebook page. If you want to entertain your littles one of these upcoming rainy days, check out this fun little photo booth idea. Here’s what you do:
Step 1: Fan KINDER® on Facebook
Step 2: Start your photo-strip
Step 3: Upload your photos
Step 4: Choose a fancy KINDER® frame
Step 5: Choose a filter (make yourself look silly)
Step 6: Save & share
Here’s ours! Portia wanted animals and swirly craziness.
Disclosure: I’m part of the Kinder® Mom program and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.
