I have no problem admitting that I am at the stage in my life where I’m seeking out certain products and certain services that read “anti-aging” in their description.  As a 33 year old lover of the sunshine, with 2 young children and a mortgage I can barely afford, the lines in my forehead and around my eyes are more and more noticeable every time I take a peek in the mirror, it seems.

When I was given the chance to enjoy a facial at Spa Utopia, I literally jumped at the offer and chose their ‘Designed for U Anti-Aging Facial‘.

Our skin care therapists take an innovative approach to help restore vibrant younger looking skin. – Spa Utopia

I booked in for a Friday night at 6:45pm.  I honestly can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday night after a long week.  From the moment I walked into Spa Utopia in their North Vancouver location, I knew I had made an excellent decision.

Spa Utopia

The entrance to the Spa is so beautifully decorated right now for the holidays.  All I could see were pretty lights and all I could hear was the sound of a very gentle water fountain that is in the waiting area of the spa.  This was the only picture I took myself, so as to respect the privacy as the other spa guests, but I think it embodies the feeling inside the spa so well!

I changed into my robe and slippers and waited in the waiting area for my therapist to come and get me.  The room was filled with couples enjoying their après-treatment complimentary glass of wine and groups of girlfriends quietly chatting away.  Everyone was so relaxed and it was such a happy place to be on a Friday evening.

My anti-aging facial itself was pure bliss.  I had a therapist that was extremely knowledgeable and she didn’t make me feel terrible about my ‘fine lines’ which I loved her for :P.  She actually explained a few things to me which no one has ever told me. One of these things being that some of the lines (a.k.a wrinkles, but I much prefer the word ‘lines’) around the side of my face are actually from sleeping on the side of my face. I’m essentially squishing permanent lines into my face.  I’ve since been attempting to sleep on my back.  Good little tip to know!

The masks, creams and serums that were used on my face were so moisturizing.  It was like instant hydration for my face and my skin felt so soft at the end of my treatment.  Spa Utopia uses products that promote:

  • Deeper exfoliation
  • Reduced wrinkle depth
  • Botox-like effects
  • Firmer skin tissue
  • Increased compactness
  • Complexion clarity
  • Restored verve
  • Diminished fine lines
  • Strengthened skin structure
  • Lessened skin discolouration

As a busy mama, an evening at the spa is such a treat.  An hour and a half to myself, let alone some major pampering, was truly appreciated.  So, to anyone looking for the perfect gift for that deserving mama in your life, here’s how to buy a gift card (or you can pop into one of their locations).

The last time I treated myself was so long ago, I can’t even remember. Maybe before I had kids, which was 6 years ago!
