This has been on ‘my list’ for literally EVER.  It involves preparing my family and somehow it’s one of those things that keeps getting pushed back when really, I can’t actually think of anything more important! I am so relieved (yes, that’s totally the right word) that we finally have these 2 backpacks in our shed.

We hear it all.the.time on the West Coast.  The “big one” is coming.  There have been close calls and for some reason, I STILL didn’t take the steps to equip our family in case of an emergency.  It actually kind of makes me feel a bit foolish, as I sit here and type this out.  The important thing is that we ARE prepared now in the case of an earthquake!

What finally inspired me was when I found Earthquake Kit on social media.  These are backpacks containing everything a family needs for 72 hours in the case of a natural disaster striking.  What sealed the deal for me and motivated me to just take the plunge was that these kits come completely stocked and packaged for you.  I know for sure that part of my ‘hesitation’ to knock this off my list was the idea of having to source a company or, even more daunting, source all the necessary items myself and put it all together.  Daunting!

Earthquake Kit for home

The Earthquake Kit backpacks comes with everything essential to survival should we find ourselves in a desperate situation.  Everything from water rations and water purification tablets to ponchos to a hand-crank powered light and USB charger.  These bags have it all!

Earthquake Kit

Above is what you will find in the 72hrs Deluxe 4 Person Backpack Earthquake Kit (available for order HERE).  It was instantly apparent to me that there is no way I could ever put together all that we would need for our family for 72hrs for even double the cost of what you buy these Earthquake Kit backpacks for.  What you see above is $190.00 and, within greater Vancouver, it will be delivered to you in person!

Earthquake Kit is a local Vancouver company with a goal of having an Earthquake Kit in every home to ensure the safety of BC residents.  If you live outside of greater Vancouver, your kits will be shipped to you!

I especially love that once I did bite the bullet and order my Kit, I knew it would arrive ASAP.  There’s a certain sense of urgency when you feel like you want to be prepared.  You kind of want it…. NOW!

Karl Lundgren, the owner of Earthquake Kit is so passionate about getting his kits into every home and making sure we are all ready in the case of emergency.  He sells a wide range of Kits to suit every need, so make sure you get online and get yours ordered right away.  Believe me, you’ll love the sense of relief it brings.  I just can’t believe it took me this long!  Be proactive… PLEASE!

If you have yours already, why not help prepare a family member and gift them an Earthquake Kit this holiday season? Nothing says “I love you” like caring for their safety!

Connect with Earthquake Kit by calling or texting Karl directly on his cell! 604-369-8342.

This has also been on my to do list forever. Good to know it would be so much easier to buy as a kit than putting one together myself :)

I am totally unprepared. I’ve been waiting for the big one since my first earthquake drill back in my elementary school days and you’d think that I’d be prepared by now but I’m not.

We are partially earthquake ready, but have a lot more to do! We always have a supply of bottled water on hand (1 case), we have some small bills in cash stashed away for money on hand in case machines are down, we keep a pair of shoes near our beds (in case of broken glass etc), we have a first aid kit upstairs and downstairs, and we have some emergency lights that work without power readily available on all our floors (a few per floor). And we usually have a stock of non-perishable food.

We’re definitely not ready… So this is a brilliant idea! So true that it’s cheaper to buy it than what it would cost to put it all together yourself.

Such good sense. We have 2 emergency kits – one in our car and one in the basement..but I also think that keeping a few bags with clothing and personal essentials are so important too. And something for pets!
