I am thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to my dear friend Jessica’s site, which, despite my lack of children of my own, I have been reading intently over the last few years.  I reached out to Jessica about contributing to her site because I felt that this latest listing of ours was simply perfect for the North Shore Mama audience.

A bit about me if I may! I am a real estate agent with Team Finney at ReMax Masters in West Vancouver. I work primarily on the North Shore where I grew up and most of my family lives, although I also do some business in Vancouver and Burnaby. Prior to joining Team Finney, where I now work with my brother, Mark Eilers, my mother, Ruth Finney, and my step-father, Keith Finney, I practiced as a lawyer in downtown Vancouver. I was mostly doing family law until I came to my senses and realized that the family business is much more appealing.

And now to the point! I am so excited to present this adorable and stylish family home in Central Lonsdale. Our team first sold the property about 30 years ago (prior to us actually being a “team”), and again in the last year. The new owners have done a complete renovation to the house and have made it really something special.  The best way I can describe it is a Yaletown Condo or townhouse but set on a quiet, family oriented street in North Vancouver with back lane access and a beautiful yard.

This is one of the best renovations I have seen to a smaller character home. The new owners engaged intelligent design to open up the floor plan on the main level, add a laundry nook with a desk, create an all white and stainless steel kitchen, add storage under the staircase, and brilliantly, add an ensuite and walk-in closet to the master bedroom. The French doors out to the back patio from the old house have been preserved and the charm of the exterior of the house remains in tact.  Honestly, the moment I walked in through the front door, I just loved it.

I should point out: one of the really special things about this home is that the fence in the backyard dividing the lot from the neighbour’s lot actually has a gate in it. The prior owners of this home lived there for 30 years and their children and the neighbours’ children used to play with each other and would go back and forth between the fence freely. I met the neighbour today and the impression I got was that a sense of community and family still permeated the area.

I know that the market is crazy right now for people trying to buy homes in this price range in North Vancouver. If you can handle a smaller house though, with the option to build a laneway house, you cannot beat what you would get with this home.

Here is the MLS listing for this North Shore beauty!

We would love for you to come check out this gem at one of our open houses this weekend – either Saturday, June 13th from 2 – 4pm or Sunday, June 14th from 1 – 3pm!

Jessica Blumel

Nice to meet you! I'm Jessica a.k.a North Shore Mama. This site was born out of my love for my daughters and the desire to share my motherhood journey with fellow moms. I believe we're all in this craziness called 'parenthood' together and North Shore Mama is my way of reaching out to anyone who needs a laugh, a cry or dinner inspiration. Thank you so much for reading!
