It’s Wednesday. The weekend feels so close yet still so far away. It’s that awkward post-nap, pre-dinner time of day. Your kidlets are revitalised and you should probably get them out of the house, but dinner won’t cook itself, so you’re racking your brain for a fun, and hopefully outdoor (weather permitting) activity. Enter the “Midweek Mini”! A quick little sumptin’ sumptin’ to keep everyone happy!

This week’s Midweek Mini is: Plastic Food Painting.

This activity is double the fun because the kids can get messy with the paint and then clean off the plastic food in a sink or bucket.  Portia loves cleaning her toys, so I knew this one would be a huge hit!  Another reason I loved this activity was that there was very little preparation (we had all of the materials on hand).

All you need is some plastic toy food….

And some paint (we used finger paint so it was easy to wash off)…

Cover the plastic food in paint, and voila!…

Portia then moved on to using a brush and a cut up sponge…

And then came the really fun part! Washing all the food in a bucket of soapy water…

Happy painting!

(I saw this idea on Learn with Play at Home. Check out this great site for other fun activities!)

Nice to meet you! I'm Jessica a.k.a North Shore Mama. This site was born out of my love for my daughters and the desire to share my motherhood journey with fellow moms. I believe we're all in this craziness called 'parenthood' together and North Shore Mama is my way of reaching out to anyone who needs a laugh, a cry or dinner inspiration. Thank you so much for reading!
