Memories, old and new
Giveaways February 20, 2017 Jessica Blumel 82

I feel very lucky to have had the childhood I did. I come from a very loving extended family and my brother and I were always very close with each other and with my parents. We have so many happy memories of school, weekends at home and away, long summer days and lots of play time.
Some of my most cherished memories of childhood were spent with my grandma and grandpa (Oma and Opa). They lived a few blocks away from our elementary school and my Oma would often pick my brother and I up at the end of the day for a visit at their house. We would watch Full House, play cards and eat homemade cookies. My Oma was the best baker! She made traditional German cookies and we ate them alongside a tall glass of ice cold milk.
Milk and cookies. There’s a reason that’s ‘a thing‘. I can’t think of a better pairing of food and drink. Nothing as nostalgic, that’s for sure.
I love reliving old memories and creating new ones with my own kids. I love the milk & cookies memory, but I am not a baker (and neither is my mom!), so we need something new to start up.
I’ve partnered with Dairyland in celebration of their 100th anniversary to create some lasting memories with my girls. There may not be any baked treats around here, but there can be some other delicious goodies!
Dairyland’s delivery service has changed over the years (hint: no more horse and wagon). What hasn’t changed is our commitment to delivering products of the highest quality.
Enter the Milk ‘n’ Cookies Milkshake. This super easy recipe combines Vanilla Ice Cream, Dairyland Milk, a splash of vanilla and Oreo cookies. It is dangerously delicious and your kids will love everything from making these to drinking them. Trust me!

February 21, 2017 #2 AuthorMy best milk memory is when I was about 5 or so. I remember my mom giving my brother and I a glass of milk each while we were sat at the table. We would blow bubbles in the milk and it would make my mom SO mad. My brother and I use to laugh so much doing it. It is a great memory I have of my brother also. 😉

February 24, 2017 #40 AuthorI attended an elementary school that served a carton of Dairyland Milk with lunch almost everyday. I’m a picky eater so I didn’t even touch the lunch most of the time, but I became friends with one of the new kids in my class and we bonded over being picky eaters. We had mini competitions to see who can finish our lunch first – even if we didn’t like it. We soon learned to appreciate the goodness of milk and we looked forward to it at lunch.

February 28, 2017 #54 AuthorMy cherished memory is going to our local general store to purchase a quart of Dairyland milk.
I thought I was such a BIG girl because my mom trusted me with a whole two dollars (this is dating me).
Also, I returned in a timely manner. My mom was so pleased with the speed with which I returned and
the change from the milk purchase. Also, we made oatmeal raisin cookies together. She used the stove and I made my little cookies on my shiny and new amazing miniature COOKING STOVE. After they where baked with shared our cookies with my big brother (who is passed away now) with a tall cold glass of Dairyland milk. We had decades of home delivery both at my parents house then my own house. Delivery of much more than just milk! Even big buckets of laundry detergent too. Dairyland was so convenient and way before the times with their delivery service. As a kid I looked forward to the milkman… and Jimmy the Ice Cream man in his blue VW Beetle! The good old days…
