Here we find ourselves again. Fall. In Vancouver. A.k.a cold, damp, wetness.
It’s coming and we all know it! I am a warmth-seeking sun-baby, so I’m kind of holding my breath in anticipation of the days and days (and months) of rain that we will be experiencing soon. While bundling up in rain gear and trudging around in miniature ponds all over town is not my favourite thing to do, somehow (SOMEHOW!!!) it IS my girls’ favourite thing to do. Go figure!
Portia (age 5) has always loved puddles and rain and the gear that comes with that weather. Madeleine (age 2.5) is following in her big sister’s footsteps. They both LOVE rainy days! I’m still trying to wrap my head around it, to be honest. Don’t get me wrong, I’m quite happy to be cozied up in front of a fireplace, cup of tea in hand and wrapped up in a blanket. But, that’s my idea of how to spend a rainy day. The girl’s would much prefer getting all (rain)geared up to hang in the puddles and take shelter under umbrellas.
Since the rain is inevitable and I like to be well-prepared, I jumped at the opportunity to try out the Native boots, which I honestly didn’t even know were an option! The girls live in their Native shoes all summer, but Native winter boots now too?! Count on a Vancouver company to understand our West Coast needs!!
The Native boots we have are the Jimmy Winter styles (adults + kids) and they’re not just water resistant and pretty! They are lined with micro-fleece making them warm and cozy. (Nothing worse than cold, wet feet!)
The Jimmy Winter boot is:
One of the things I love most about the Jimmy Winter kids boots is the drawstring to do them up. Laces at these ages are still an ‘issue’ so a shoe or boot that eliminates that extra step is golden in my books! They are also super lightweight, much like the very popular kids summer shoes that I’m sure most of us know and love!
It’s so great to buy 1 pair of boots that will serve the purpose of rain AND snow protection (should we even get any of the fluffy white stuff in Vancouver this year).
