It’s no secret that I have a lot more time alone these days. Since my separation, I end up doing pretty much everything on my own on the days I don’t have my kids. It’s a strange feeling, for sure!
I have had to get into a whole new rhythm. It has taken me close to a year to figure out how to go from ‘full on’ parenting to ‘full off’ parenting. I fit workouts in on days I don’t have the kids whereas I’m strapped for time in all sorts of ways on days that I am in single mama mode. On days that I don’t have my munchkins, I wander around feeling pretty void for the first day and then I try and fill the rest of my time to the brim – mostly with exercise and catching up on work and attending events!
It’s my new normal. Something else that is my ‘new normal’ is going from cooking for FOUR to cooking for ONE about 50% of my days. For someone like me, who really only enjoys eating for the social aspect, cooking for just myself often becomes my last priority. Instead, I have become more of a snacker. I’ll eat little bites and bits here and there throughout the day but I ALWAYS fit in a guilty pleasure at the end of the evening.
😎 ✔️ 📱 ✔️ 📚 ✔️ 🍿 ✔️ I have everything I need for our much-needed holiday in the warmth and sunshine. Here’s hoping the kids fall asleep on the ✈️ so I don’t have to share my @smartfoodcanada goodies. The new Gouda + Chive flavour is so goooood-ah. PS. check out my stories to see what happens when I’m tasked with photographing food. 🙈 #SmartStash #ad . . . . . #momstellingdadjokes #snacks #airplaneessentials #travel #vancouverigers #vancouverblogger #holidaze #vacation #springbreak #goudaandchive #popcorn #smartfood
I’ve been finding all sorts of reasons to treat myself to this popcorn.
“Wow- I had such a great workout today! I should have some Smartfood!”
“Mmm that was such a delicious salad for lunch. I should have some Smartfood!”
“Oh look- it’s raining! I should REALLY have some Smartfood!”
Or- “I’m putting together a cheese platter for dinner tonight…
… it should for sure have Smartfood on it!”
It’s safe to say that it is dangerous having the new Gouda & Chive flavour of Smartfood hanging about the house. Forget hiding it from my kids… I’ve had to start hiding it from MYSELF! (After the first bowlful, that is!).
What do you do with your ‘me time’? I’d love to hear in the comments!
