We don’t have cable in our home… so we rely fairly heavily on Netflix. Our girls are 4 and 2 years old and they like a show in the morning before daycare and then they get another show while mommy makes dinner in the evening.  Portia will often watch a movie on the weekends while Madeleine naps.  We are very ok with this amount of screen time, but I do still feel like it’s an added bonus if the shows the girls are watching are educational in some way.

There are some great Netflix shows that both your toddler and preschooler can watch (and that will TEACH as well as entertain).  Both our girls still love to watch Dora the Explorer and Portia practices her Spanish with pride :) .  Madeleine loves to interact by answering Dora whenever she asks a question.  It’s pretty funny to witness all round.

Other shows for our little ones that stretch the mind and the imagination are Sid the Science Kid and Fireman Sam (and others as you’ll see below!).

Netflix StreamTeam

1. Sid the Science Kid
2. SciGirls
3. Fireman Sam: To the Rescue
4. Bob the Builder: Building from Scratch

We have yet to get into SciGirls, but I feel like it’s something Portia is going to go nuts over! Part of why I love being on the StreamTeam, is finding out about all these titles and being able to share them with other parents who are looking for ideas for their kidlets when it comes to age-appropriate viewing!

Which shows are your kids into these days? Any favourites being watched on repeat?

Disclosure: I am part of the Netflix StreamTeam and receive special perks for helping to spread the good word.  All opinions in this post are my own.

I believe we're all in this craziness called 'parenthood' together and North Shore Mama is my way of reaching out to anyone who needs a laugh, a cry or dinner inspiration. Thank you so much for reading!
