A couple of weeks ago, I did a massive purge of our playroom. We gave away 1 huge black garbage bag worth of toys and threw away another half bag worth of ‘stuff’. I was feeling overwhelmed by the amount of ‘things’ we have accumulated over the years and I can only imagine how it would have felt even more discouraging for our kids to want to grab a toy and play from that mess!
My new rule is that we are going to have a more minimal selection of toys, use them until we have had our fun and then I will put them away for a little bit and rotate through some other toys. This way, when we ‘rediscover’ a toy that has been stored on a shelf for a couple of weeks, it will feel new again. Well, this was my plan at least, but I can already tell that some toys are going to be sticking around a bit longer than others. 😉
We have had the chance to play around with the Disney Princess Glitzi Globes Pageant and Jewelry Kit and I had NO IDEA Portia would love it as much as she does. Portia, 4.5 years old, is all about everything ‘Princesses’, but she was so into this new toy that surprised me a little.
I think what Portia liked about the Glitzi Globes was that there were steps to take and she was actually MAKING something. She felt so proud of her end results and wanted to bring the little globes to daycare to show her friends the next day!
We only made a few so that we still have some more to play with another day, but Portia is already enjoying the little glittering globes that she made so far.
To learn more about Glitzi Globes, check out their website. You can find Glitzi Globes locally at Toys ‘R’ Us, Walmart and Sears.
Here is Portia’s first ever ‘instructional video’. I think she did a pretty great job of explaining how to make these cute little princess Glitzi Globes!
