Portia and I recently went on a mommy-daughter roadtrip to the Okanagan. We packed up the car, loaded up on snacks and hit the open road. It was the perfect weekend for so many reasons.
It’s hard for me to believe that Portia is nearing the end of Kindergarten!! There are only 6 weeks left of school before summer and camps and popsicles! (Did you hear those teachers cheering? 😛 ) I’m having moments every now and again where I want to yell from the top of my lungs: “STOP THE CLOCK!”. My baby is just growing too much, too fast. One-on-one time with Portia these days happens too infrequently and I totally soaked up every little moment of our little weekend away together.
But we weren’t alone… We had the huge privilege of being part of a VancouverMom.ca blogger press trip. There were 9 others families away with us that weekend!!! The kids’ ages ranged from a few months old to 12 years old, and a whole whack in between.
The whole weekend was mapped out for us. It was such a treat to not have to lift a finger when it came to planning a weekend away. I can’t count how many times over the course of the two days I both thought to myself and said out loud, “this is so relaxing”.
We were super lucky to be hosted by the Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa. If you want to do Summerland right, this is where you stay. Because you wake up to a view like this…
… and this is where you spend as much time as possible…
… and believe me when I tell you that the 15 or so kids in our group got as much use of this pool as humanly possible. Some were in the pool when it first opened in the morning and others were there to close it down at night. I mean, it would have been rude not to, really! 😉
The night we all arrived at Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa, we were welcomed with a private dinner from Local Lounge and wine tasting of some Evolve wines. After the long drive up from Vancouver, this was such a fine sight for the kids and adults alike.
We may have had a little too much fun!
We moved the party outside, where there was a firepit all ready for s’more making. I realized a major parenting fail at this point in time. Portia didn’t know what a s’more was. That was quickly rectified.
(Yes, I am s’moring with wine in hand. Because… vacation.)
So, we now have a s’more addict on our hands but it was oh-so-worth-it. The kids played and the parents caught up around the firepit. Such a fun night!!
Thank you so much to the Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa for a weekend of memories I will cherish forever. If you’re planning a trip this summer, you now know where to stay!
Stay tuned for my next post on all the great things to see and do while you’re in Summerland.
