Every year, we take the kids to the Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver for the Canyon Lights event.  This is always how we kick off the holiday season, because it really gets you into the spirit!

Cap suspension bridge

WHERE: Capilano Suspension Bridge, North Vancouver
DATES: November 27th- January 3rd (closed on December 25th)
TIME: 11am – 9pm

We love going at around 4:30pm with the kids (ages 5 and 3) because it’s just dark enough for all the pretty lights and we still get home in time for dinner and bedtime.  Already full-swing is gingerbread man making, hot chocolate drinking and admiring of all the gorgeous lights!

In the tent you see above, there is also a big, beautiful sleigh that the whole family can sit in and take some nice holiday photos! Make sure you go and check it out for a holiday family evening of fun!

About Canyon Lights

The suspension bridge, Treetops Adventure, Cliffwalk, the rainforest and canyon are transformed into a world of festive lights and visual enchantment. See the world’s tallest living Christmas tree (153 feet tall!), go on a Snowy Owl Prowl, decorate gingerbread cookies and make your own Christmas card (by donation) in the Winter Pavilion, and sing-along with the holiday band.

When you join us for Canyon Lights partial proceeds from your admission will be donated to the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund. Your admission also allows us to continue hosting community nights for local charities including:

  • North Shore Disability Resource Centre
  • Covenant House
  • North Shore Neighbourhood House

Nice to meet you! I'm Jessica a.k.a North Shore Mama. This site was born out of my love for my daughters and the desire to share my motherhood journey with fellow moms. I believe we're all in this craziness called 'parenthood' together and North Shore Mama is my way of reaching out to anyone who needs a laugh, a cry or dinner inspiration. Thank you so much for reading!

I’d love to bring my son, but I thought he might be a bit too young (3 years). Did your 3 year old enjoy it?

Portia, 5 years old, definitely got more into it (even last year at 4!). I would suggest going earlier in the day so he’s not tired 😉
