Getting kids to brush their teeth can be a challenge! Here are some tricks to have up your sleeve to make brushing fun.

Tasty Toothpaste

Choosing the right toothpaste flavour is important for kids. Some find certain flavours too strong, and some don’t like the taste of mint. Try out different flavours until you find one that your child likes. One toothpaste that works for many kids is ProEnamel for kids. It has a gentle mint flavour and doesn’t contain the foaming agent, sodium lauryl sulfate.

Pick a fun Toothbrush

Get a fun toothbrush with your child’s favourite animal or cartoon character. Some toothbrushes come with lights or a timer to add some fun. If not, use a clock or timer to encourage brushing for two minutes, twice daily.

Stickers and Calendars

Use a calendar and stickers to offer positive reinforcement for excellent brushing. Get excited when your child brushes well, and has a sparkly smile! This shows your child that brushing is fun and something to look forward to before bedtime.

Be a great role model

Make sure to spend time brushing your own teeth in front of your little ones. They want to be like you, so have fun yourself when taking care of your teeth. Brush together with your kids, or give them an opportunity to brush your teeth.
